When you trigger an alert, we collect your precise location to share with your designated circles. Location data is only accessed when you have the app open or when you trigger an alert. We do not track your location continuously or in the background without your knowledge.
Profile Information
We collect information you provide when creating your account, including your name, phone number, and profile photo. This information helps your circle members identify you and your alerts.
Alert History
We store a history of your alerts and responses, including timestamps, locations, and messages exchanged during alerts. This history helps you review past incidents and is necessary for the service to function properly.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain our emergency alert services
- To share your location with circle members during alerts
- To send push notifications about alerts and responses
- To improve our services and develop new features
- To communicate with you about your account and our services
Information Sharing
We only share your information in the following circumstances:
- With Your Circles: Your location and alert information are shared with members of your circles when you trigger an alert.
- Nearby Users (Optional): If you enable the “Expand to Nearby” feature, your alert may be shared with other El Boton users in your vicinity.
- Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our services.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Alert history is retained for 12 months unless you choose to delete it earlier. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing
Children's Privacy
El Boton is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete that information.
